Gary Dressler is an Associate Director with Postlethwaite & Netterville. He has more than 23 years of state and local tax experience. His primary focus is on all matters pertaining to Louisiana state and local taxation, including planning, audit representation, and representation at both state and local appeals hearings. Gary previously spent 19 years in the retail industry, two years in the tax department of an oil and gas company, and over 18 years with a Big Four firm where he served as the State Tax Resource Network member for Louisiana and Mississippi until 2015.
Mr. Dressler is a member of the State Board of the Louisiana Society of CPAs (LCPA) and member and former chair of the State and Local Tax (SALT) Committee of the LCPA. In addition to LAT seminars, he has served as a course instructor for the LCPA, Lorman Education Services and a Big Four national SALT training program since 1999. In addition, he has lectured on sales and use tax before the Louisiana Association of Tax Administrators, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Tax Executives Institute, Construction Financial Management Association, Council on State Taxation, Louisiana State Bar Association Tax Section and Texas Society of CPAs.
Mr. Dressler has successfully mitigated sales and use tax audits in Louisiana and Mississippi for manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and oil and gas clients among others. Day-to-day, Gary consults with clients and his Postlethwaite & Netterville colleagues, to apprise clients on planning for Louisiana and/or multi-state consequences of pending transactions, tax compliance, and audit defense. He has successfully assisted manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and oil and gas clients in the pursuit of Louisiana tax incentives and sales and use tax refunds. Day-to-day, he consults with clients and interacts with the Louisiana Departments of Revenue and Economic Development to secure benefits for clients.
Mr. Dressler holds a B.S. in accounting and graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Orleans.
